For years I had a weird relationship with games. Despite growing up with the PS2 (as evidenced by my PS2 game collection), there were a number of years (around the late 2010s, if I recall correctly) where I saw games as a waste of time, and purely as time spent to be social with friends. I’ve since changed that mindset - games are beautiful, emotional works of art.

(Questionable) Opinions About Video Games

I strongly think that old video games should be preserved, and new video games should not require an internet connection to play on single player.

I also reminisce about the fact that older video games went “gold”, and that they received little to no updates after release. I see the benefit in receiving updates, for sure, but I worry that games can be rushed to disc or to online stores ahead of release by the publisher, leading the developers to patch bug fixes on day one, which means when the update servers stop working, you could be left with a very broken game (and, just to clarify, I place NO blame on the developers).

Games companies are also trying to go digital-only and get you to pay a hefty subscription to access these games, which is abhorrent.
