I enjoy collecting films, games, and music on physical media, as I find a lot of value in making sure I have a copy that’ll work forever (as long as I also have the hardware). The upfront cost is admittedly higher, but I still think it’s worth it long-term.
Quite often you’ll be able to find much cheaper second-hand copies of what you’re looking for on sites like Vinted and eBay, or in-person in charity shops and car boot sales.
You’ll basically never see me with a recurring subscription to any mainstream platform. You’re renting a license to view the media on there, and it can be removed at any time for any reason, and as soon as you stop paying you lose all access to it, even though you may have parted with hundreds or thousands of pounds over the life of the subscription.
